Why it works

Clear PVC you can see straight through

The sheet is solid PVC film rather than a woven fabric, so there is no weave to cloud the view. Transparency is close to 100%, which means you can check covered stock, plants or furniture without untying anything, and a screened seating area still feels open. PVC is water resistant, so rain runs off rather than soaking through.

Rope-reinforced edges and corner guards

A thin film on its own tears at the edges. Here a black nylon rope runs inside the folded hem all the way round, which holds the edge straight under tension and stops a tear spreading from an eyelet. Each corner carries a black plastic guard, the point that takes the most strain when a sheet is pulled tight.

Aluminium eyelets that will not rust

Aluminium eyelets are fitted at all four corners and along the edges, so you can tie the sheet to a pergola, scaffold, trolley or fence with cord, bungees or cable ties. Aluminium does not rust, so the eyelets will not stain the clear film.

Choosing the right option

Measure the opening or the item and add enough on each side to reach your fixing points or the ground. Sizes are accurate to within 3%, so allow a little extra on a tight opening. The 1m-wide sheets, from 1m x 2m to 1m x 12m, suit narrow screens, doorways and low trolley runs. The 2m and 3m widths cover pergola sides, furniture sets and plant benches. The 4m to 6m widths and the 8m x 8m sheet cover large seating areas, aviaries and work areas. The 1.5m x 20m strip is for long runs such as fence lines, trolley rows and polytunnel ends. This is our lighter clear sheet. If it will be handled daily or left out through winter storms, choose our heavier 0.35mm clear PVC tarpaulin instead.

Installation, use and care

Fix the sheet through every eyelet with bungees, cord or cable ties so the load is spread evenly, and tension it so it does not flap and rub. Keep it off sharp edges and hot surfaces such as heaters and barbecues. Clear PVC stiffens in the cold, so unfold it gently in freezing weather. Wipe it clean with mild soapy water and a soft cloth (abrasive cleaners will scratch it), then let it dry before folding or rolling it away.
