Our hessian rolls are made from 100% natural jute fibre — a biodegradable, eco-friendly alternative to synthetic covers and sheeting. What is Hessian?
Hessian (also known as burlap) is a plain-woven fabric made from jute plant fibres. It is naturally rot-resistant, biodegradable at end of life, and one of the most sustainable covering materials available. Our hessian rolls are available in 200gsm (6oz) and heavier weights, in widths from 0.5m up to 2m and lengths from 10m to 50m rolls.

Hessian vs Synthetic Covers
Unlike polyethylene tarps, hessian allows plants to breathe — making it ideal for frost protection where moisture needs to escape. It is not waterproof in the same way as PE tarps, but provides an insulating layer that protects against frost damage.
