Which Weight Do I Need?
GSM is the finished weight per square metre. It's a good first filter, but the weave, hems and eyelets decide how long a sheet lasts. Here's the guide our team uses on the phone every day.

Rule of thumb: if you're unsure, go one grade heavier and tie down every eyelet. Wind flapping a loose sheet ruins more tarpaulins than sunlight does.

What GSM tarpaulin do I need?
Under 110gsm for a few weeks or an indoor dust cover; 110–140gsm for a season on garden furniture, camping or a small boat; 185–270gsm for anything left out over a UK winter, building sites, hay and trailers; PVC for lorries, plant and roofs you'll reuse for years. See the weight guide above.
Is the size I order the finished size?
Tarpaulins are sold by cut size, measured before the hems and eyelets go on, so the finished sheet is a little smaller. Manufacturing tolerance is up to ±10%. If you need edge-to-edge coverage, choose the next size up or use Find My Size, and allow 20–30cm overhang each side.
How fast is delivery and what does it cost?
Order before 2pm Monday to Friday (11am Saturday) and we dispatch the same day. Express delivery is 1–2 working days, £9.99 flat rate to UK mainland, fully tracked with a signature on delivery. Highlands, islands and Northern Ireland may carry a surcharge. Delivery details.
Do you make custom sizes and offer trade accounts?
Yes. Any dimension can be cut to order, with custom sizes cut in 48 hours. Bulk and trade orders receive preferential pricing and accounts are available. Call 01744 520 110 or use the trade quote form for a same-day quote.
Are your tarpaulins waterproof?
Yes: Waterproof Guaranteed. PE sheets are laminated and PVC sheets are coated, so the waterproofing is in the material itself rather than a spray that wears off. Fit a sheet with a pitch so water runs off, and load every eyelet.
Is a heavier tarpaulin always stronger?
Not always. GSM includes the coating, so a thick laminate on a loose weave can weigh more than a tightly woven sheet that is stronger. Look at the weave, the hem construction and the eyelets as well as the weight, or call us and we'll recommend a grade.
