220gsm Premium White Reinforced Tarpaulin – Light Transmitting Rope Grid Tarp with Eyelet Band

When you need to work under a cover, not just keep things dry, a light-transmitting reinforced tarpaulin makes the job easier and safer. This 220gsm premium white tarpaulin is opaque, but it lets a lot of daylight through, so builders, boatyards and workshops can keep working underneath or behind it. Its strength comes from a polypropylene rope grid sandwiched between two outer waterproof layers. It is supplied without eyelets: instead, a reinforced eyelet band runs all around the edge and along its length, with guides marked every 10cm, so you can fit eyelets exactly where your frame, scaffold or boat needs them. It comes in 10 finished sizes from 4m x 3m to 14m x 8m.

Why it works

Rope grid construction

The core is an HDPE leno fabric with a polypropylene rope grid (3.2 x 3.2 per square inch), coated both sides with LDPE. The rope grid gives it tear strength well beyond a standard woven tarp: the published tensile strength is 580 N/5cm along the length and 440 N/5cm across the width. It is waterproof, rotproof and UV protected, with a UV stability of 200 kLy, and it stays usable from -40°C to +80°C.

Light through, weather out

The opaque white sheet diffuses daylight, so the area underneath stays bright. That is why it is used for temporary roofs over extensions, scaffold covers, boat covers in the yard and covers over machinery you still need to work on.

Fit eyelets where you need them

No eyelets are fitted. The double edged, reinforced hems carry an eyelet band all around and in the length direction, with 15mm eyelet guides every 10cm. Punch and fit eyelets at whatever spacing suits your job; each eyelet position is rated at 580 N tear resistance. Until eyelets are fitted, you can fix it with clip-on tarp clamps along the band.

Choosing the right option

Unlike most of our tarpaulins, these are finished sizes, accurate to within 2%, so choose the size you actually need to cover and add enough to reach your fixing points. 4m x 3m to 6m x 5m suit single scaffold lifts, small boats, vehicles and machinery. 8m x 4m to 10m x 6m cover yachts, larger extensions and work areas, and 12m x 6m to 14m x 8m cover whole roofs and big plant. Remember to order eyelets and a fitting tool if you want fixed eyelets, or use clip-on tarp clamps along the edge band. If the site requires a flame retardant sheet, choose our lighter 150gsm EN 13501-1 class B flame retardant version instead.

Installation, use and care

Decide where your fixing points fall, then fit eyelets at the guide marks on the reinforced band, or fix with clip-on clamps. Use bungees, rope or scaffold ties, spread across all fixing points, and tension the sheet so it sheds rain and does not flap. Avoid pulling it over sharp edges. Clean with water and let it dry before folding.
